Joined Curtis Building Company in 1995. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and law degree from the University of Detroit School of Law. Since uniting with the company, he has been responsible for much of the site planning, land development and transactional aspects of Curtis. The company grew from roughly $20,000,000 in revenue to approximately $100,000,000 under Mark’s leadership. In 2004, Mark, along with his twin brother Craig, was awarded the Building Industry Association’s “Young Builder of the Year” award. Mark’s legal education and professional experience have been instrumental to the company’s growth, as well as its survival during the historical shift in the industry over the last decade. In addition to managing the real estate development aspect of the family business, Mark has applied much of what he practiced in law for the benefit of Curtis, such as negotiating loans with lenders, contracts with subcontractors and site planning and the drafting of easement agreements, development agreements and zoning requests.
